Trips are graded using a combination of three elements:

  1. Effort: How tiring the day is likely to be.

  2. Ski ability: How technical the skiing is likely to be.

  3. Mountaineering skills: How hazardous the terrain is likely to be.

By using these elements within a simple matrix members should find it easier to match skills and experience against different trips.
It is however important to recognise that the weather and underfoot conditions vary so greatly in Scotland that the same trip on different days can result in a totally different experience.
